GOOD INTENTIONS-BAD CONSEQUENCES: VOTER'S INFORMATION PROBLEMS by Phillip Nelson.

A new approach to understanding voter choice that explains a lot of behavior otherwise unexplained. For example, Why colleges are so liberal and rural areas so conservative. This approach leads to important policy implications. There is too much government redistribution and expenditures on the environment.

Phillip Nelson's research on information economics has been frequently cited and he has written a book in public choice, SIGNALING GOODNESS. GOOD INTENTIONS - BAD CONSEQUENCES combines the two fields. He has taught at Columbia University, the University of Chicago and Binghamton University.
