The disturbing real-life event that took place on February 22, 2022, over three years ago at Leidseplein, a popular neighborhood in downtown Amsterdam known for its exciting nightlife, served as the inspiration for iHostage lookmovie. Alerts about a potential heist were sent to the police control center at around 5:30 PM. A 27-year-old Amsterdam resident named Abdel Rahman Akkad held about 70 people hostage inside an Apple store on the ground floor of the Hirsch building while brandishing a pistol and a machine gun. Customers were in a state of confusion upon discovering the robbery, and those in close proximity to the entryway promptly left the establishment. Those who were unable to reach the major exits, meantime, took refuge in different locations to defend themselves against the attacker.
