Archived airchecks of the Assumption College radio station WACR 88.1 FM that operated in Worcester, MA from the early 1970s until about 1981. The studios were located in the basement of Desautels Hall. The station operated with a couple of watts from an antenna on the roof of Desautels at times struggling to cover the entire campus, but occasionally having listeners up to a mile way. It started out on 89.1FM, but moved to 88.1 FM once the College of The Holy Cross radio station (WCHC) went on the air at 89.1. WCHC ultimately moved to 88.1, but WACR was long gone by the time this happened. WACR's over the air transmissions ended around 1981 after the SGA under pressure from the administration pulled the plug because the station's unlicensed status. For a time in the 1990s WACR was revived and operated as a carrier current station on campus with studios in the Kennedy building.
