“Our intention is to touch people through our musical selection and to create emotional listening experiences that leave you wanting more.”
Brothers in both life and music, Toronto duo Sweet Touch Foundation must have beats in their blood. The “2BadBros”, DJ Riccachet and DJ Thera-P have been active in the scene since the ‘90s, honing their craft and evolving over the years as true students of their artform.
Primarily influenced by the innovative sounds of early Hip Hop, the two brothers were cutting and scratching vinyl on toy record players as toddlers, a skill they have continually experimented with as they emerged as professional DJs in the years to come. With their turntablist prowess and deep musical knowledge, Sweet Touch Foundation have been showcasing their unique and forward-thinking music selection, skillful mixing and precision scratching at clubs, lounges, concerts, corporate events, online mixes, podcasts and radio shows.
Sweet Touch Foundation have been blessed to open for and perform alongside artists they came up revering, one of the biggest honours for any musician. Sharing stages with heavy hitters like Ghostface Killah, KRS-One, J-Live, Freedom Writers, Black Moon, Kid Cudi, Wiz Khalifa, Jeru the Damaja, GZA, Tony Touch, DJ Total Eclipse and Da Beatminerz, the brothers truly shine. And it’s not only the Hip Hop world who are paying attention; the two have played at events for the likes of Rogers, Toronto International Film Festival, The Director’s Guild of Canada, Holt Renfrew, ManifesTO, Hot Wheels, Hard Candy Fitness Toronto and Stoli Vodka.
Rocking with legends, filling dancefloors and dropping mixes aside, STF can be heard across the GTA every week on their live radio show “Stylistik Endeavors”, which airs every Friday from 8 to 10 p.m. on 89.5 FM CIUT. Along with co-hosts DJ Fase and Theology 3, the show was nominated in 2008 and 2009 for the Stylus DJ Awards’ Best College Radio Show - yet another accomplishment that has solidified Sweet Touch Foundation as a Toronto institution.
Although the “2BadBros” are most prominently known for their highly curated selection of R&B, House and Hip Hop, their dedication and love of music extends to a wide variety of genres including Future Beats, Soul, Funk, ‘70s, ‘80s, ‘90s, Top 40 hits, Rock and Reggae. Individually, DJ Riccachet and DJ Thera-P rock crowds with their diverse and entertaining sets, while possessing an uncanny ability to read and connect with the audience in a way that only experience can explain. A movement by themselves, but a force when they’re together; the duo undoubtedly bring out the best in each other.
Whether they’re onstage or in the studio, the two brothers share a unique chemistry, showing no signs of sibling rivalry when it comes to the turntables. And with a big year planned for 2016, this DJ duo - “those two bad brothers you know so well” - are ready to take it to a new level.more
