Today's episode is about the gender pay gap. Globally, women on average, are paid about 20 percent less than men. The gender pay gap gets even wider when you look at the higher paying, growing industries such as Information and Communications Technology. The gender pay gap in jobs in ICT ranges from 7 percent in Kazakhstan to 44 percent in Belarus. While factors such as education, working time, occupational segregation, skills, or experience can explain part of the gender pay gap, today's podcast guest Nina Roussille, Executive Director of Hub for Equal Representation at the London School of Economics, introduces the role of the “ask gap” which investigates the unexplored components of the salary negotiation process as determining factors of the gender wage gap. Listen in and find out what simple policy change companies can make to help eliminate this gap. Enjoy the show!
