After stumbling across the station in 1977, Nick became fascinated by the Caroline story and its music. This led to his passion for radio generally, initially running a pirate station from a London water tower – a great spot for FM – and placing aerials in trees with Radios Floss and Duck.   After narrowly missing out on a job with ‘thinner record spinner’ Roger Day at the newly launching Invicta Sound,  Nick settled for a Telecoms job.  But the draw of Caroline never went away, and after visiting the ship on Albert Hood’s ‘sightseeing’ trips, and Albert kindly passing Nick’s demo tape on, he got a call from Andy ‘Cosmic’ Johnson.  After a disconcerting trip to Dover in the company Volvo, Nick joined the station as Nick Bolland in July ‘87. An experience he says he would not miss for the world. He would have gone back, had contact not been lost as Cosmic left the business seemingly taking his notes with him. Nick took up community radio in his home area near Newbury in 2018 and enjoyed a couple of years working with Kevin Turner, who he’d met at Caroline’s 50th. Nick is delighted to be back.
