When Intermetro Record Pool, was located at 225 Lafayette Street, Manhattan, NY; I (Dewane Dixon) as the Corporation’s Executive Officer and Record Pool Director, I was fortunate to have had talented staffing:
• Kathleen Kennedy, Gary Mona, John Sabatel, Robert Cliville (of C&C Music Factory), Joe Gomez, Rocky Tovarisch and there was other assistance pool directors, doing the years.
Intermetro’s roster of Disk Jockeys (DJs) and Video Disk Jockeys (VJs) were gifted individuals, coming from the five boroughs of Manhattan and the various demographics within the boroughs. Intermetro represented DJs and VJs from Manhattan, NY, and the five boroughs; New Jersey; Philadelphia, PA; Washington, DC; Georgia and Puerto Rico. Intermetro (sometimes known as Metro) was known for discovering and nurturing talent in all fields of business. Internetro mentoring program, was known for developing talent through workshops, up on the third floor. Example of some of the DJ, the workshops help to developed their talents at Intermetro Record Pool :
• Walter Gibbons, Tony Smith, José Diaz (the Animal), Shep Pettibone, Junior Vasquez, Ralph McDaniels (Video Music Box), Chuck D; Hank Boxley and Keith Boxley (of Spectrum City and became Public Enemy), Robert Clivilles (C & C Music Factory), Rocky Tovarisch, Arnold E. DiJoseph; P.C., Charles Basile, Joe Gomez, Mike T. Brown, Jose A. Sanchez Jr. (DJ Saint), Cary Vance, Anthony Salamone (DJ Tony T. or DJBKNY), Paul Caracappa, John McCaskie, Mark Martinez, Frankie Amaury, Anthony Sanfilippo, Patrick Williams, Jon Ferrari, and the roster will be update in time.
The Record Pool has talented consultants behind-the-scenes, for example:
• Eric Chazulle, formally of Brooklyn, NY the record pool’s computer and network consultant; the picture above is James Robertson Milne, a talented individual, in computer programming and music. James came to Intermetro in the later years when Intermetro relocated to Brooklyn NY, from Manhattan NY. James has dual citizenship from South Africa and England. What a great talented man.
Special thanks to:
David Mancuso, the godfather of record pools. I first met David in 1970, when I became a member of his house parties on Broadway, in Manhattan, New York. Our friendship grew at 99 Prince St, at the Loft. David introduced me to Larry Levan (this was pre Paradise Garage days) and we became good friends. My affiliation with Larry, lend a hand in my introduction to Nicky Siano (the Gallery) and we becoming music industry friends.
David Mancuso, encourage me and assisted me in starting the Intermetro Record Pool.
Thanks David - Dewane!
