Traditional Literacy Learning is the title of Chapter 4 in Maximizing School Librarian Leadership (ALA 2018). Reading, writing, speaking, and listening create a strong foundation for students’ development of other literacies. In this podcast, I focus on the importance of students shoring up reading toolkits that allow them to practice deep reading. I share research-based reading instructional practices that support readers as they further develop their ability to read strategically and critically. Through coplanning and coteaching school librarians can be leaders in supporting students as effective lifelong readers and thinkers. I close the podcast with a preview of the upcoming blog posts for the month of December. You can access the book study schedule and links to podcast scripts from: http://tinyurl.com/maxsll18
