It's 2006?! Once more, Electrofinge presents a unique blend of high brow arts and below the belt culture that brews at the far edge of experimental thought and new media technology. Brilliant, bizarre, controversial and unpredictable
connective t[i]ssues, is a brand new strand that highlights the interaction between performance, media and audiences. It features Shiro Takatani of Dumb Type (Japan); the audience project GIFT/ BACK: Newcastle by Unreasonable Adults; new!shop, a hyper-real mini mart; [n]Avatar, an audience interactive, real-time broadcast artwork between Newcastle and California; ReelDance: Take 12 screen program of dance on film by young artists; and a performance of RAW by the Spanish dance company Colectivo Anatomica.
Electrofringe will feature a live AV and laZer show from the near legendary Robin Fox, as well as performances and presentations from international guests Filastine (US/Spain), DJ Scotch Egg (UK/Japan), Skist (Japan), Richard Chartier (UK) and Jasch (Switzerland). Another festival highlight is a special AV showcase from Melbourne's dotmov collective and an experimental live-to-air broadcast in conjunction with Radio National's The Night Air.
The ever popular ElectroProjections film/video/animation program showcases work by you, alongside highlights from Transmediale 06, The Bangkok Experimental Film Festival, Japan Media Arts Festival, SIGGRAPH, and Experimenta's Oz Digital Shorts - as well as an exclusive screening of films from the cult queen of cut ups - Martha Colburn.
Scores of panels, workshops, and masterclasses, such as the Two Day Bender electronics mash-up, Process Space, Sp[av]ce, and the MoPho Masterclass, presented in conjunction with the Australian Network for Art and Technology.more
