DJ Double Up is an original product of the Bay Area. He grew up listening to the sounds of radio stations like KPOO, KSOL, and KMEL. KPOO is the first black-owned station serving San Francisco and the Bay Area. During this period, hip hop could only be heard at specific times during the night. In the early years, DJ Double Up would stay up late at night and “pause-mix” some of his favorite Hip Hop & Break Dance tracks like, Rappers Delight, Planet Rock, Jam On It, Egyptian Lover, etc. During his college days at CSU, Chico, DJ Double Up volunteered as a Hip Hop DJ for the student run radio station, KCSC. more
