My earliest recollection of pop music was jumping around, singing and generally destroying household objects in time to the top 20 hits every Sunday evening, in my parents' living room. After being given a transistor radio for my 14th birthday, I clearly recall hearing Motorhead's, 'Motorhead' single on Radio Caroline from the Mi Amigo in 1977, and I promptly jumped on a bus and went and bought the single in Colchester, my home town. I have been a Caroline listener ever since. Radio Caroline and Caroline Flashback are the only major radio stations, I know of, that give its broadcasters a free hand as to what to play within a very 'loose' remit. This trust is repaid by keeping irrelevant talk to a minimum. This is a precious asset of the Station. Simply put be the listeners friend for an hour or so and leave ego at the studio door.  more
