Here's another track recorded at Bethells beach , this time in the sand dunes. I was looking for a good spot to listen to the birdlife (being sand dunes there's not many birds around) when I came across some foliage that had these guys singing away. It's one of my favourite recordings at the moment and I think you'll understand why when you have a listen.
Remember, when at the beach take only memories and leave only footprints. ( ok , conservation message over )

Green-collar jobs report

A new study looking at the economy and climate change has found that cutting greenhouse gas emissions will actually result in job growth.
The CSIRO report predicts an increase of between 2.6 and 3.3 million so called 'green-collar jobs' over the next twenty years.
In the US where there has been significant movement in this area, the term 'green-collar jobs' is used to describe blue-collar jobs in green industries.

With oil price spikes, every body is whinging about the cost of petrol.
But imagine if you could run a car without it?
The electric car was invented 150 years ago, but its never been as popular as it's petrol guzzling counterpart.
A report released by the NRMA calls for the Federal Government to fast track development of the electric car industry in Australia – because it will reduce petrol dependency by 20 per cent over the next 12 years.

Growing concern over Shark fin industry
|

Startling figures on Australia's shark exports were released this week with conservation groups saying that some species are massively over fished.
The environment group WWF used Australian quarantine data to show that 500 tonnes of shark fin was exported in the past 13 months.
That's nearly 10,000 sharks sent mostly to Asian markets where demand is high.
The WWF is calling on the Queensland government to cutback on fishing licences in the Coral Sea and Barrier Reef regions.
