| Gunnedah plains and surrounding area is currently home to a large part of NSW agricultural sector. Mining companies however have seen past the fertile soils to the large coal deposits in the area. When Bhp-Billiton came to explore coal deposits on farming properties in the town of Caroona, local residents have gone about blockading the properties from exploration. Libby speaks to farmer and property owner Tim Duddy about potential coal exploration on his land and its effects on underground aquifers. |

| James caught up with Dr Mark Diesendorf from the Institute of Environment Studies, University of NSW and Author of the Book ' something' about de-carbonising our electricity system. Diesendorf tells us from now until 2020, energy efficiency measures and solar hot water can reduce our demand by around 50%. This can be coupled with wind and biomass energy.
