A Bay Area native and 15 year veteran of the San Francisco House scene, Joseph ”Jojo” Torres, started his house journey in the early 90’s as an intern for the venerable, now defunct “Yo Mama’s House” at 106.1 KMEL. Local SF titans of the house sound David Harness, Pete Avila and Patrick Wilson were cast as the resident DJs while international artists such as Louie Vega, Tedd Patterson, and Frankie Knuckles also graced the decks. This unique experience was instrumental in fine-tuning Jojo’s ear for the deep soulful Latin infused beats for which he is known. Contributing to local legendary parties such as Release and Devotion set the tone for his rise and established his integrity as a solid DJ in the Bay Area. Reuniting with SF House powerhouses Harness and Wilson, Jojo secured a residency at SuperSoulSundayz to keep the dance floors moving at two of the most reputable venues, the legendary EndUp and Temple SF.
Currently you can find Jojo juggling as a guest host and DJ for 90.1 KZSU Stanford’s weekly house giant “Big Love Show” while still keeping house heads lifted with his current internet radio show and podcast, TruSoul Radio, going five years strong. Keep an ear out for Jojo as he delves into production with the internationally renown deep house label SoSo Deep
