Born August 2, DJ Young Venom grew up in Ridgeland, MS in a single parent home, and while he was exposed to R&B and Blues at an early age, he favored a skill in drawing and painting rather than music from Smashing Pumpkins and the Foo Fighters to A Tribe Called Quest and Cash Money.
Hip hop caught Young Venom's attention back in high school before he even saw a turntable; he was downloading mixtapes by Green Lantern and Red Alert. He always knew he wanted to do something creative, and at the time he was heavily into graphic design; so almost by happenstance, his life led yo music.
After a one-year stint on a record label as an A&R, Young Venom called local radio station WRJH and met Program Director Kwasi Kwa to inquire about radio, particularly the art of djing. It took him a while but he finally got his own equipment after practicing and taking notes from VIOLATOR DJ'S D.O.C., SCRAP DIRTY, D LO, and DAT NUPE T COXX.
A prominent newcomer in Jackson, MS's market, he has quickly made a name for himself as a regular DJ at Cultural Expressions, Dreamz JXN, and more. He has also been a featured DJ at Jubilee Jam since 2007, and was recently named one of Jackson, Mississippi's best DJ's by the Jackson Free Press. Young Venom has thrown several successful parties: the"80's Babies Party" (part 1 & 2); the "Rep Yo' City" dance battle where crews from New Orleans, Memphis, Florida, and Alabama competed live; and Jackson's first-ever SneakerBall. He is also the up and coming artist 7even:Thirty, The future is bright for this young DJ as his ambition and focus are stronger than ever before.
