The official end to the Boer Republic of South Africa was yesterday when the ANC conference at Polokwane elected Jacob Zuma president of the ANC, paving the way for him to become the next president of South Africa in 2009 when Thabo Mbeki’s second term comes to an end. Wealthy whites have retained their hegemony on the economy through three successive terms of a democratic New South Africa because both Mandela and Mbeki played the first world game of placating the largely white owned business sector. Black people have remained poverty stricken and it is this frustration and dissatisfaction that has led to Zuma’s ascendancy to the seat of power in the ANC. Zuma is now the Great Black Hope for South Africa. Black people are demanding of Zuma that he redress the serious imbalance in wealth distribution and allow them to particpate more fully in the economy. The one obstacle that still looms in Zuma’s path, however, is the drive in the courts to convict Zuma of fraud and corruption. All those who have played their part to thwart him must pay for their insolence. Send the judges, the prosecutors and the policemen to the Gulags! The people of South Africa must take precedence over the politically motivated and tainted judicial system!
