About Me — May 27, 2009
Gerry McCullough has been writing poems and stories since childhood. Brought up in north Belfast, she graduated in English and Philosophy from Queen's University, Belfast, then went on to gain an MA in English.
She is married to singer/songwriter and Media Producer, Raymond McCullough, with whom she co-edited the Irish magazine, ‘Bread’, (published by Kingdom Come Trust), from 1990-96. In 1995 they also published a book called, ‘Ireland - now the good news!’
Over the past few years she has had several short stories published in Ireland, and poems and articles published in several NI & UK magazines. Her previous success in winning the Cuírt International Festival prize for 2005, and recently being shortlisted for the 2008 Brian Moore Award, could well open up new opportunities for publication of her full-length Irish novel, together with a children’s book set in Dublin.
The prizewinning story, 'Primroses', is one of a series of twelve Irish short stories written by Gerry, also currently under consideration for publication in book form, entitled, ‘Dreams, visions, nightmares’.
