Naturally, I'm into music, the farther out the better. That doesn't mean that I spend my time in front of the stereo listening to ambient drone music (well, not
all of it anyway!). I like rock that remembers what kickin' it out is supposed to sound like, love songs that get down to the nitty-gritty, jazz that lifts you up, funk, soul and r&b that take you higher.
If you're in a band, make music in your garage, DJ in your bedroom, or do interesting spoken word pieces, I'll gladly give your downloadable sound files a listen for possible airplay (if uploading's not your thing, e-mail me and I'll tell you where you can send CD's and vinyls, or if you are so inclined, even old-fashioned audio cassettes).
About Me — May 23, 2009
I'm Doctor B. I've been on the air on WHRW-FM in Binghamton, NY since 1979. I started out doing radio the old-fashioned way - two turntables and a microphone, just like the song says! Even though my techniques have changed along with the technology of sound, my philosophy has not. Now as then, I concentrate on great music that doesn't normally get airplay.
I chose the morning drive-time slot because I wanted to be there while people were getting ready for work. I also realize that a lot of people have to or would prefer to get up a little later. Hence, this podcast, which is a verbatim recording of my radio show.
(Due to technical and legal issues, I cannot podcast my Boot of the Week. Sorry about that!)
