Raised up in the boogie down Bronx I always had a passion for music whether it be salsa,disco,funk,hip-hop,r&b,merengue it was in me. I spent alot of time with my cousins in east harlem(el barrio) there too music was always playing.I remember one of my cousins friend was the dj at the Ipanema(pinky) was his name and he would always give me the names of the hottest disco records that were in record stores and i would run out and buy them. I remember the first 12 Inch I bought it was ten percent by double exposure. I was amazed that the version I purchased was alot longer than the one they were playing on the radio. when I was old enough to go to clubs I was not too interested in dancing I would always focused on the dj and what he was playing for the crowd I loved it and I still love it today. now how I actually got into djing was when I went to a friends house and he had his equipment set up in a room with lots of vinyl, I felt like I was in heaven. so any time I would go to his house he would let me play on the tables. I was not as skilled as he was but practice and the love I felt for djing kept me going. I always had good music and the names of tracks that were going to come out soon but no equpment. I would take the tracks to my friends house and practice there. I remember when he was ready to go purchase some vinyl he would ask me to go with him so I could tell him what was hot in the market. Then some time in the late 90`s I purchased some equipment of my own and started to practice, practice, practice and started to dj at private functions(weddings, sweet sixteens, boat rides, holiday parties, etc.) I became a memeber of new york record pool for several years & that was great beacause the music I was getting there was alot of exclusive mixes for djs only. And thats what I like for when I play a track people to ask where did you find that mix! Today I still do private functions once in a while and I still love djing very much and thats what keeps me going. We are soldiers of house fighting to keep house ALIVE!
