There are an infinite number of DJs throughout the world but there are few that can mix music so well that it puts you in a trance. DJ Knyce is one of the few that can hold a crowd and take them from a state of relaxation to a state of frenzy; reeling them in mix after mix and groove after groove creating an atmospheric environment where the crowd can’t help but to move to the rhythmic masterpiece that Knyce presents.
Kareem Chow a.k.a. Knyce was born and raised in Toronto of Trinidadian decent and like many West Indian descendants was inundated with the sweet sounds of the West Indies. Knyce’ exploration of music started with the engaging sounds of Soca and Calypso music which eventually inspired him to start spinning vinyl. It was at this point in his life that knyce was introduced to hip hop and got the chance to be stage front center to watch the legendary Big Daddy Kane “the king of the deadly one liners” do his thing that he knew hip hop would be a part of him for the rest of his life. Although he was forever going to be linked to hip hop, it wasn’t until he witnessed the likes of super DJ’s such as DJ red Alert and Kid Capri rock a crowd for hours at the Windsor sports weekend that Knyce realized that his love for music was more than just a hobby.
Since this turning point the turntable specialist known as Knyce has been on stage with some of the biggest names in Toronto hip hop. He has been a contributing factor to the success of the greatest hip hop artists to rock the Toronto scene since the days of Maestro fresh Wes. His impressive resume includes spinning wax for Choclair’ ice cold tour, trekking across Canada feeding the college crowds dosages of chronic hip hop on the Kardinal Official eye and eye tour. In addition to blazing a hip hop inferno from the Rockies to the Prairies Knyce has managed to engage the city of T.O with his mixology wizardry. Spinning at some of the hottest venues in the city, Knyce was an intricate part of the Toronto night scene which you see today.
Disappointed with the progress and the direction that the Canadian music scene was going Knyce decided to take a break and pursue his other passions. After a four year hiatus, Knyce has decided to enter the ring again and start injecting the crowd with the ultimate music experience; picking up where he left off. It is now the sole mission of Kareem Chow, a.k.a. knyce to give the city what they been craving for; a chance to fall in love with music again. Stage left…Enter DJ KNYCE.
