the thing i've been at the longest is percussion - began hitting overturned pots at the age of 9 months (Madison, Wi. Dad was at U. of Wi. on GI bill) - first Snare drum at age 3, Bongos at age 8- played along w/ Santieros on back porch of apartment building (Springfield Ave., west side, Chicago)- Singing groups captured my interest in teen years - graduated Baltimore City College H.S.#408 in '67 - met first wife while singing lead for rock band (The Regents)in college (Morgan State, Balto. Md.) - played congas & sang for numerous soul, R&B, Funk bands in Baltimore - Attended/played @ Drum Circle in Druid Hill Park (The Park Drummers) every Sunday (when in town) from '72-'85 - began seriously studying West African Dance & Rhythms (Abdu & Hassan Konte, Mor Thiam)& playing for dance troupes in mid-late 80's - The Dance Menagerie, Maria Broom Dancers, Ballet Kankouran, Olu's Dancers - Health Food Deli,Bicyle Messenger, Bike Shop, Vendor in DC - escaped to Clearwater, Fl in '91 - coming back onto the scene w/Congas, Djembe, Shakere, Ago-go bell, Cowbell, Tamboor, Hoopdrum & zils - Catch Drum circle at The Dunedin Brewery on Tuesday nites, Drum circles at Clearwater & Treasure Island Beaches on Sundays - NEW DRUM CIRCLE at Dunedin Causeway (Dunedin Fl.)on Friday evenings - - - -
