AFU - Always Found Underground is a new podcast started by music industry veteran Jim Thorpe. AFU concept is real simple getting people interested in great music that you might not have heard. The Podcasts cover all styles of music and features known artists and artists you should know. Each episode will feature an "Underground Nugget" which is a band in the past that put out amazing music, inspired others but never really got their due. Jim Thorpe has been in the music industry for over 20 years as a musician, club owner, promoter, artist manager, talent buyer and director to try and sum up. He currently serves on the Board of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Recording Academy, currently is the talent buyer for The Legendary Dobbs and is in his 12th year at the Dewey Beach Music Conference (DBMC) handling the industry panels and artists selections for showcasing. In addition to being business partner at The Grape Street Pub (’95-’05), Jim has put on live successful events at Brownies 23 East, Finnegan's Wake, The Trocadero, The TLA, and countless others throughout the years.
In 2012, he started the Liberty Musicfest in Philadelphia which is 4 days of bands and seminars. In 2011 Jim started DVT Entertainment with Vince Volz which is a booking agency, Artist Management, Music Consultant and Club/Venue Consultant. DVT current roster is Devise, Kid Felix, Beyond Dishonor, In Presence of Wolves and DJ Sat-One. In 2013, DVT were selected as the booking agents for the 1st Annual South Street Spring Festival we boasts 3 main stages and 8 smaller stages, approx. 50+ artists.
