Josh Wetherington Artist Bio:
An extremely talented all around Audio/Visual Technician, 2009 Ultra Music Festival DJ/Producer Spotlight contest winner Josh Wetherington, is most calm in the midst of digital chaos. As an Audio and Lighting House tech for Florida Atlantic University Josh excelled as lead technician for shows ranging from local battle of the bands to the Wu Tang clan and Lil’ Wayne to some of the greatest traveling symphonies in the world; he even directly assisted NBC during the 2008 Florida Presidential Primary Debates. While attending FAU Josh helped design and build the recording and production studios at Owl Radio, where he worked as two year Productions Director and finally Station Manager. Spending a year after graduation as Lead Event Technology Specialist for the Breakers Resort, Josh has directed AV for some of the most exclusive clientele on the planet. But Josh’s true talents are revealed creatively through his music.
Melodic, Uplifting, Forward-Thinking, Progressive Dance Music, ranging from Deep House to Earth shaking Techno is this chef’s soup de jour that uncannily gets the dance floor swimming. As a DJ, Josh has provided tour support BT and Thomas Dolby on the This Binary Universe tour, the Crystal Method on their Community Service tour, and even Reggae Dance Hall Legend, Yellowman, on his Summer 2005 European tour. As host and DJ of the Positive Progression Sessions college radio show Josh has graced the airwaves with his exceptional musical flavors worldwide online for over seven years running on Owl Radio (http://owlradio.fau.edu), and was even featured on The Learning Channel’s Miami Ink. As an veteran clubland resident Josh Wetherington always releases an explosion of sounds on the dance floor that keeps crowds shaking as their experience melts into unforgettable memories.
Returning from the 2005 European tour, Josh decided to step away from the complacency of spinning nightclubs to focus his talents in the studio. It has definitely paid off. With a bevy of electronic dance remixes under his belt, for artists including Sasha, Gabriel & Dresden, DJ Salvatore, MGMT, Duncan Sheik, and even Coldplay, Josh enjoyed his first official original release of “Commencement” on Sheeva Records in 2007. With a string of original productions and remixes released in 2008 and an original artist solo album planned for 2009, Josh Wetherington is truly an up and coming artist who’s rise is impossible to ignore.
