--------------
The Fat City shop opened in 1993 and established itself quickly as an alternative to the strictly house and dance purveyors already in Manchester and quickly became a hot spot for music lovers. The shop is currently bigger and busier than ever with a renowned and thriving website.
--------------
Throughout the nineties Fat City organised and promoted several legendary club nights across the country including Feva, Headfunk, Counter Culture, Off Centre and Friends and Family.
--------------
Friends and Family continues to gain capacity crowds regularly weekly in Manchester and monthly in London. The club features the most upfront DJs, producers and bands from across the globe whilst having one of the most varied rosters of any club in the country.
--------------
Fat City Recordings was set up in 1998 and has since released some highly acclaimed albums including the eclectic, Mystic Brew series, Andy Votels, Finders Keepers and the hiphop focused Heavy Loungin. The label is currently distributed by Pinnacle Records, one of the biggest independents
in the world and has a full and impressive release schedule for the next 12 months including releases from Dudley Perkins, Waajeed / Platinum Pied Pipers, The Nextmen, Quantic, 88-Keys, Eric Lau and Broke'n' English.
--------------
At last! The first of two vinyl samplers from the looooong awaited War LP from Waajeed and his Bling 47 crew. Six killer tracks of Detroits finest rocking the boards, following on and definately progressing from the Platinum Pied Pipers album, this is next level ish right here. Hip hop, soul, funk and techno mixed with that Detroit thump! All new material except the classic Carl Craig-does-hip hop ( and VERY souight after) Tron, we have Ta'Raach and Invincible together on the malfunctioning computer soundtrack of Bombs Away, Fire sees Waajeed messing with the electronics and vocal and guitar samples. Soul superstar in waiting Tiombe Lockhart mixes it with the best of them, Invincible gets a go over a syncopated jazz loop, and Proud sees the dopest JBs cut up in years. A great taster to whet your whistle for a stunning double CD.
Tracklist:
*Bombs Away
*Fire
*O'Bloody Days, O'Starry Nights On The Bowery
*Tron
*Place Where We Dwell
*Proud
