Official Bio

Edson C. Soriano was born in San Francisco to Bolivian parents in the late seventies. Although S.F. born, he is DC Area raised. Edson is a true witness to the morphing world of dance music thanks to his father, who was also a club DJ. His interest in DJing began when he first visited the infamous 12" Dance Records in Washington DC with his father for fresh vinyl. On that visit he brought back a few bargain bin 45s for his "toy" record player. Over the next few years the tinkering on the turntables began. When he was about 14 Edson decided that as soon as his father would leave for work, he'd turn on the equipment and start playing with the knobs and sliders on the mixer while playing records. It did not take long to figure out the basics of mixing music.

Edson began collecting records, and started out by promoting his own parties as DJ X-tsy while attending Washington-Lee High School. Like many other underage DJ's in the area, listening to Club 95 on WPGC 95.5 kept Edson up to date on dance music. Soon thereafter, he made an important move by applying for, and being accepted to, the DC based O.M.A.P. Record Pool, which already provided the hottest records to top area DJ's.

In 1994 Edson was recruited as resident DJ on Friday Nights at the infamous DC club TRACKS, a space he occupied for several years until it closed down. His reputation in the DC area grew. By early 1999 he had played every major club in DC. Countless house-heads have been entertained by Edson and those he works with, such as DJ Overkill.

Edson has been mixing for over 15 years and collected thousands of 12", thanks to a top 20 record pool position. He has earned the distinction of owning one of the most complete dance music vinyl collections in the area.

Generally speaking, his sets are a roller coaster ride through the world of house music. Edson doesn't like to fixate on the over-classification of house. He’s best known for choosing latin inspired tracks and rhythmic beats, but refuses to be limited by a sub-genre.

However, unlike many vinyl born DJ's, Edson has gone one step further and recently moved into a completely digital solution. His new turntables are housed in a Vestax VCI-100's, and his crates are on an Apple MacBook Pro.
