I Cristhian Carrillo also known as DJ Trick-Set was born in Callao, Peru in the early 80s. My family moved to Annanale, Virginia in 1986 and have lived in Northern Virginia my entire life. I first begin to take notice of the art of deejaying when my older brother used to bring home early house music mixtapes from clubs such as Tracks in DC. These tapes introduce me to a unique sound and style that would influence me years over the years. I never knew the concept of deejaying until my sister had a house party and a soon be great friend by the name of DJ Overkill showed up with his MK-1200s. Soon after this experience I purchase a used pair of gemini belt-driven turntables and mixer. I would find weekly rides to DC's hottest record store 12-inch Dance Records to feed my need of music. I would purchase records from labels such as Underground Construction, Jasper Stone, Sneak Tip, Nervous, Strictly Rhythm and Cajual. My sound would soon change as the Latin House movement died out. I eventually started to watch DMC Battle videos that led me to start buying battle records. I begin to add Hip Hop Battle scratches to my DJ resume which molded my mixing style.
While spinning at a local house party I met a promoter who took me under his wings and introduced me to the club scene. I have had the opportunity to network and work with various promoters & DJ's in the DC metro area such as Buzzlife, Panarama, ELM, M3 and venues including Ibiza, 1223, Home, Insomnia as well as various bars & lounges throughout the DC, MD & VA area.
After Y2K and the rise of the Digital Revolution, I adopted Rane's Serato Scratch and begin the transition from DJ to Producer. I am currently focussing on extended my education and planning to obtain my Associates of Science from NVCC all while balancing work and my love for music. I have worked on various projects & events in VA with Overkill (Sound Design), Moses (Arkateks), J-Boog (I & I), Team Zapata (ELM) & Edson S. (Backtracks) producing & spinning tracks ranging from Hip Hop, Reggae, House, Techno, Electro to Drum & Bass.
