Antonia Fields, better known as DJ Royale T. is a female DJ ready to take the thrown. Born and raised in Indianapolis, IN, DJ Royale T. has a broad perspective on music that many do not, spinning everything from hip hop and r&b, reggae, classic and neo soul, dance, house, techno, and pop. With Indianapolis, being one of the most prominent Midwest cities, DJ Royale T. was exposed to all genres of music growing up. DJ Royale T. says “The good thing about Indianapolis is that we aren’t like the coasts who are all about West or all about East or all about the South, we are Midwest, so everything comes our way. Our radio stations play everything, and we are open.” Now residing in the New York City area, DJ Royale T. appreciates her Midwest roots more than ever. Before discovering her passion for DJing, Royale T. tried her hand at a number of arts. She has an extensive background in fine arts, fashion design, dabbles in graphic art, is a certified makeup artist and a college graduate with a BA in Communication Studies from Indiana University, Indianapolis. Through it all, she has always made music a priority. “I have always loved discovering new music and sharing it with my friends and family. That is an amazing feeling, to in some way feel like you were one of the first to discover something new and have a hand in helping a new artist become more well known.” Not only does DJ Royale T. like to spin the music of new up and coming artists, she likes to give props where it is due, spinning oldies and classic soul that she feels is getting lost and becoming non existent among today’s generation. With a massive old school hip hop and soul vinyl collection passed down to her from her mother, a music fanatic, she loves and respects the music before her time. Her first mix tape touches on exactly this. "Here to School Thee" is an ode to all the old music that artists of today have sampled, attempted to remake etc. Though DJ Royale T. does not come with years of experience, she comes with a true passion and love for making sure people have a good time. “Going out with my sister and my friends and just dancing the night away is one of my favorite things to do, and I want to make sure I give that to others. One of the worst things is heading to the club in the mood to dance and the DJ plays nothing that makes you want to move your feet.” DJ Royale T. makes it a priority to cater to her crowd. She gives them what they want. Learning from some of Indianapolis’ top DJ’s like DJ Smooth and DJ Trouble, Royale T. has learned that it is about customer service. “I can’t just spin what I would listen to driving in my car or in my bedroom, people are out to have fun and want to hear music that keeps them in that mood.” With experience promoting some of Indianapolis’ biggest parties and events DJ Royale T. knows what the people want and is ready to give it to them.
