DJ Ritz, one of Toronto’s most booked deejays is one of the few that may have been born with music coursing through his veins. As a product of after-school programs where Hip-Hop was the tie that bound young kids together, DJ Ritz developed a deep love of the penetrating beats and intricate wordplay that permeated the music that changed music’s course for ever. Having been inspired by the greats of our time such as Kid Capri, Starting from Scratch, Funkmaster Flex, DJ X, Mastermind, The Baby Blue Soundcrew and many more, DJ Ritz developed his own style that has, through years of practice and determination, rewarded him with over 200 gigs a year which makes him one of the hardest working deejays in the city.
DJ Ritz has been a significant part of Toronto’s urban nightlife due in large part to his affiliation with many of the top promoters of nightclub entertainment for over 10 years. DJ Ritz got his start as many deejays did; attending house parties and watching his predecessors shape and mould an entire culture. Not allowing himself to become distracted by the abundance of temptations surrounding the Entertainment industry, DJ Ritz focused solely on the development of his skills, and now with several residencies on radio and nightclubs, DJ Ritz is living the life he always knew he would.
DJ Ritz has entertained crowds coast to coast and beyond including Vancouver, Montreal, Halifax, Detroit and NYC. His efforts have been rewarded with seven Stylus Spinfest nominations over the years, a 2008 win as Stylus Toronto DJ of the Year, as well as Request Pool DJ of the Year in 2004 and 2006.
