Pablo Ferreira

320x240_86469

Loving music since birth, Pablo Ferreira has had a lot of music throughout his life. Coming from a musical family and having different types of music at all times was an every day assurance. Imagine, growing up listening to the likes of Ruben Blades, Miles Davis, Masters at work, Juan Luis Guerra, Depeche Mode, and Public Enemy with a little Metallica for good measure. Now imagine that happening on an everyday basis… Some people might have picked a side and stuck to it. Pablo saw it as what it was. A smorgasbord of styles that would later help define his musical prowess as a DJ.

Through the years Pablo discovers the power of moving a crowd and he falls in love. He falls in love with the reaction a mass of people can give all at one time and he works toward that in every one of his sets. He decides this is his life's passion. He embarks on what he calls an "educational journey". A journey that he says teaches him something everyday. "I've been cheered and I have been booed, but I always learned something along the way"

After playing family parties and doing the mobile wedding and baptism thing in his Native New York city he decides he wants to play with the big boys in the clubs. Problem was that was not exactly easy. See, in New York at that time the only way you could get any type of playing time was to 1. Do it for free for a long time and 2. To hassle club promoters in the hopes that they might give him a chance on an off night. Also, the club residents were not exactly happy about having a new guy coming in to play. They saw it as someone coming after there spot. Pablo never saw it like that. He always thought there was enough work to go around. "I would play any time, any place, anywhere," He recalls. "I would play Hip Hop, Latin, Old school, Funk, Disco and even the occasional Metal Bar" " I didn't care, I just wanted to play". But, even with all this talent for so many different types of music, one true love always rang true to his heart. As he puts it, " I became good at doing a lot of thing, but I never felt anything, like House music"

With the help of some friends and DJ's he met a long the way he started to gain momentum and respect amongst his peers in the club scene in NY. Playing in some of his cities best clubs, (China Club, Babaloo, Jimmy's Bronx café, Café Remy, Cream and club Casino just to name a few) He continued his pursuit of excellence in the booth.

After years of playing he decides that something has been missing. And he was able to sum it up in one word. House! So, he pack's his bags and leaves the gray of New York for the pastels of South Beach and has not looked back. According to him "it was the next logical step" Now, with the new title of producer under his belt he produces and remixes tracks a long with partner Eddie Alexander. As a duo, they have brought happy nights to many in Miami's nightlife (Uva, River, Zebra Lounge, The District) As well as abroad.

Sad to see him go, we who know him from his early days knew it was a natural part of his progression. I have had the opportunity to be on the floor during one of his sets and I must say he projects his mood and energy to all. A little warning to the good people of Miami and abroad, if you find yourself on his dance floor… Buckle up!!
