Hi, im Neil, aka DJ Neilyboy, im an aspiring DJ who mixes Electro, Techno & sometimes a little bit of House or Mainstream with a mainly electronic sound. I use Pioneer CDJ400s, DJM400 Mixer, Pioneer DJS & MAYA44USB Soundcard. I'm unsigned and don't have a residence at any club and i'm very available to DJ pretty much anywhere.
You can catch me on bebo as DJneilyboy.
I've been DJing now for nearly 5 years, though its been an ambition of mine for much longer.
I have many influences from as far back as I can remember, from hearing acid house blasting from Ghetto Blasters on the street when I was boy, through swapping rave tapes & going to raves through the 90's to the rise of the club scene at the tail end of the 90's where it became mainstream thanks to DJs like Judge Jules & Paul van Dyk who really influenced my cross over from rave to club music.
It was then in 1999, being 18, I went to the Arches in Glasgow for the first time and straight away I was hooked, I was blown away by the intensity of the atmoshere and the very underground feel of the place, I felt straight away that it was somewhere special and this became my haunt for many a weekend in the years to follow where I was priveleged to See almost every top DJ you can think of, from Ritchie Hawtin to Carl Cox, Judge Jules to Eddie Halliwell, to name a few.
I have a very varied taste & mixing style of dance music, I go through different stages from funky house, electro, techno all the way through to trance & even hard house, though I try to keep my mixing style mainly electro/techno.
I set about buying my 1st set of CDJ's as I sat in my work bored around the Christmas period, and as I browsed the net, I typed in DJ equipment, from that point on I knew I was gonna have to get a set of CDJ's, the only thing was, which one's? I done my homework (for about 2 days) and taking people's ratings & comments from DJ sites and my finances into consideration I decided Numark Axis 9's were the one's for me along with a 4 channel Behringer mixer.
Straight away I was hooked, the beat counter helped and I practised most nights though I had plenty of up's and down's and thoughts of not being good enough and other times dreaming of playing in front of large crowds.
I still have the same dream now, of playing in a big club infront of a big crowd.
So far, i'm still not that much closer to that dream, though i've done a couple of small gigs & hopefully ther'll be more to come.
I've since moved onto pioneer CDJ technology, using CDJ400's with a DJM400 mixer, these are certainly a step up, & like everything else, I hope to progress further.
Feel free to listen to my mixes which i'll update every few weeks.
Enjoy...
