Born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, Lou Alvarez began deejaying at the age of 17, when he first experienced the excitement of playing music on vinyl. He later developed his skills as a mobile deejay, spinning at private parties, weddings and other events. After six years, in the late 80’s, he left the mobile business in favor of honing his skills and broadening his musical tastes. As a bedroom deejay, various genres including Latin, Disco, Jazz, R&B and Classic House music began to influence Lou’s selections as he developed a unique and eclectic sound.
Having admiration for deejays such as Tony Humphries, Timmy Regisford, Merlin Bobb and Louie Vega, Lou always desired to enter the dance/club scene. In 2005, Lou returned to deejaying as a promoter/freelance club deejay, spinning Club and House classics as well as Deep, Afro, Tech and Soulful House music. In addition to local gigs and over a six-year span, he has hosted three internet radio shows, captivating audiences with his smooth blend of vocals, rhythms and beats. Over the past several years, he has played for organizations such as Humble Beginnings, ThinkSoul, Exact Nature Party, Eclectic Entertainment and The Usual Suspects.
During this time he has showcased his talents in local venues such as Club Elevation, Perle Night Club, Ash Lounge, Luna Lounge and Sapphire NYC, sharing the decks with many deejays such as Teddy Douglas, Louie Lou Gorbea, Esteban Fernandez, Shun Tyger, Tee Mallory, Brian Coxx, Myrto Joyce, Adam Cruz, Omar Abdallah, Duce Martinez, Mark Lewis, Duron Tarik, DJ Mann, Joey Mazza, Dave Tobon, DJ Sweet, Rob Lewis, Franky Hows and Wil Milton, to a name a few. Currently you can catch Lou at Sol Deep Wednesdays Vivo Lounge, Newark, NJ
