Who Is
DJ Da-Lyte?
In the early 80's life began for DJ Da-Lyte in Manila, Philippines.
His parents wanted more for their young son than the Philippines could
offer, so they decided to move to America to make a better life for
themselves and their children. Still just a baby, Da-Lyte and family came to
New Jersey. This is where Da-Lyte's journey from a young kid who likes
music to a man who lives for music all began.
At a young age, it was obvious that music was destined to play a big
part of Da-Lyte's life. He was always listening to music, and always on
the search for more. From the moment he could operate a tape recorder,
he began making mix tapes for himself and others. Then, in the late
80's something happened that would change his life forever. Da-Lyte was
introduced to the world of Hip Hop. Almost immediately the music and
culture captured him, and became part of him. You could say that he had
found his first true love in this culture of MCs, graffiti, and DJs.
As a young man, Da-Lyte wanted to learn how to dj, but simply did not
have the money to get the proper equipment. As fate would have it
though, he ended up meeting the brother of one of his good friends, who just
so happened to be a dj. He was then given the opportunity to learn
the art of becoming a dj. After putting in weeks and weeks of practice,
Da-Lyte finally saved enough money to buy his own set of technics and a
mixer. Then the real work began. He spent many long hours both day and
night perfecting his craft and sharpening his skills. Never afraid to
fail- he would try new things and new techniques, that in the end would
make him a true contender on the wheels of steel.
Dj Da-Lyte received his first dj gig at Drama Nightclub in 1999. This
is the first time he had ever truly experienced the power to control a
crowded room of people. Needless to say, he was hooked. Now totally
focused on his dj career, Da-Lyte began to perfect the art of mixing,
remixing, and scratching.. He also did his homework, studying every dj in
the clubs, and watching the crowds reaction. With all his time and
effort put into networking, Da-Lyte landed a dj gig for spring break
Miami wmc at Madonna's club Steam.
Soon after Miami he also landed a guest appearance on the Pepsi x show
out in Washington DC. But this was just the tip of the iceberg for DJ
Da-Lyte. From 1999 till 2008 he has opened up for DJ Skribble, DJ Ace,
DJ Cyper Sounds, DJ Prostyle, DJ Camilo, Rob Low, DJ Rey-mo, Carl
Blaze, Snatch1, and DJ S&S. Da-Lyte has played out in Miami, DC, Chicago,
Cancun, Philly, NYC, and Jersey. He has done his thing in clubs like
