Yusef was known as the kid who threw the basement parties after school. Word would soon travel and he would land djing gigs at local neighborhood after hour clubs along with his Brother and partner Ron Lowe. Yusef would be influenced by such djs as Shep Pettibone, Frankie Crocker of the infamous WBLS, DJ Red Alert, Timmy Regisford, Marley Marl, Tony Humphries and many others. He rubbed elbows with such legendary musicians as Lance Negroni, Dennis and legendary Drumer Omar Hakim. He would frequent such legendary venues as the renowned Paradise Garage, The Loft, Studio 54 and Palladium. These experiences would be the catalyst that nurtured his love for disco, house and jazz. Still thirsty for a sound more tribal and soulful with depth and meaning he continued on his quest to find the sound of House that would plant his feet as a permanent fixture in the annals of the house music scene in NYC and then Atlanta.Yusef has had the opportunity to open for such artists as Osunlade, Carlos Mena and Abicah Soul. With future goals of producing original tracks, traveling nationally and internationally, Yusef is definitely a force to be reckoned with. Coming from an era of musicians he has a respect for all genres of music, live instrumentation as well as music spun in vinyl and cd format. “I play music to take people on a spiritual journey.” One Love
