Background:
Grew up in Houston, Texas and always a music enthusiast. Part of the generation that heard the sounds of electronic dance music for the first time in the United States.
"By the time I was 16 and finally able to drive and get myself around there was one thing and one thing only I loved to do....go to parties, be the DJ and play the loudest, latest and best music. I lived for the weekends!"
Such memorable fun days and like everybody that learns how to beatmatch and mix music, you just gotta get in, learn it---- and do it~!
I remember sitting for hours and hours with friends and crates of records all day just playing music and figuring out what songs paired up best with others and build these huge incredible sets. That was over 20 years ago...and still do it today :)
In the late 80's Electronic Dance Music was first being introduced to the United States in a whole new way. I was lucky to live in one of four U.S. cities chosen by U.K. Record labels and promoters to give a try in the U.S. and see if EDM would take off. (Miami, Chicago, NYC and Houston)
Everybody knew Depeche Mode, Erasure, Pet Shop Boys, New Order, Dead or Alive. The Cure, The Smiths, Gene Loves Jezebel, Information Society..
Then came the new electronic and techno driven sounds from producers and bands like: Hardsonic Bottom 3, Split Second, CCCP, Ministry, Section 25, Vicious Pink, Poesie Noire, Cetu-Javu, Tom-Tom, Voyou, Ultravox, Boytronic, Airplane Crashers, Until December, The-The, Red Flag and Moses-P.
I'll never forget the early days of big room industrial and electronic dance music. I’ve been through it all and watched progress to where it’s at now and is truly amazing!
I’ll always have a music passion for EDM. There’s no comparison to the feeling you get when on that happy, full of thoughts-emotional journey throughout a good song. Truly incredible.
What's better at the end of a good song.....when that next one starts and it’s allllll over again :)
