I am a DJ..not a record-player or a jukebox and I mean that in every sense of the acronym.
I come from the era where every knew and respected the fact that BEFORE THE MC, THERE WAS THE DJ. Without the music, there is no party. Without the right DJ, your party would more than likely be a failure.
I come from the era of block parties, skating rinks and park jams.
I come from the BRONX...the birthplace of hip-hop.
What you can expect from being a fan of my podcast site is the truest essence of what separates a DJ from someone who just spins records, and I first sat in front of a turntable at age 3....no lie...and I have the picture to prove it.
KEEP THE CROWD HAPPY AND MOVING.
Whether it be some of the original breakbeats from the era of Herc, Bambaataa and Flash....
....or the disco and R&B wizardry of Pete DJ Jones and Grandmaster Flowers.....
......or the rocksteady beats from sound systems and dancehalls in Jamaica (where hip-hop owes its roots to) such as Jammy or Coxsone, Duke Reid or Skateland....
.....or the days of Awesome Two, Red Alert, Mr. Magic & Marley Marl or P-Fine when hip-hop never got prime-time on the radio....
....or the mixtape mastery of the great Kid Capri rocking the classics and the theme-based tapes...
you're going to get the essence right here.
