DJ/Producer Charo Velecio of Rhythmic Chant/RitualNYC was born in Havana, Cuba and exposed to the Afro Cuban sounds at an early age. She’s created quite a niche for herself while playing in many of New York City's deep hot underground venues. Her reportoire includes spinning on the 1's and 2's at Cielo's for Joann Jimenez's Raza party, Spiegelworld at the Seaport with Lou Gorbea, Water Taxi Beach for REDness & Joann Jimenez’s Seaport Soul Series with Duce Martinez, Webster Hall with Ultra Nate' & Lisa Moody for SUNDAY SHOUTIN', The Sullivan Room for IN 2 DEEP with DJ Curly & DJ Sabine, Seaport SUMMER SERIES with Carlos Sanchez, CAMARADAS alongside Caja Dura, Katra with John Kano aka Havana Funk & DJ Dove, Highbridge Park Jam for DJ Meticulous among many other venues. She's returned from South Beach where she spun during the WMC '10 for her own event MIX & VIBE which was an incredible success. Recently, she spun at Poly Rhythm and has completed her first EP entitled TUMAINI which is available on www.traxsource.com and includes some dig deep Afro Cuban beats that have a seriously spiritual tone. She's currently working with Jasper James (OMA recipient)on her next release. In addition, she's appeared on Axiomonline.tv and continues to be a guest DJ on prepartyradio.com. Next up for Charo Velecio is teaming with DJ/Producer Eddie Baez of Anthem Records for the Circle Line's PRIDE NOT PREJUDICE cruise on Saturday, June 26th. She's certainly not to be missed, as she leaves a trail of fire wherever she goes!
