Fresh, chunky and pumping tunes is what I really like, although Progressive House often ends up in my collection.
London seems to be the place I would most favour for clubbing for both it's music, DJ's, people and the clubs. Trade back in the day but venues like Fire and Area now.
I learned to play hard house on vinyl before playing on CD's and developing a much broader taste in dance music. I'd like to thank Sarah Griffin (My wifey) for showing me the ropes and showing a lot patients. Same goes for PJay xx
I played out for first time at Cambridge's Pink Festival,2006. Why play in grotty pub as my first experience when I could play in main dance tent at a quasi gay festival hee hee. If it taught me one thing that day, it was to mix in my headphones!!
I have played out at a few different gay nights in and around Cambridge. But I soon realised that the gay scene there is lacking in numbers, so it would be unlikely that enough people would be wanting to go to a club night where the music would be pumping with tough underground feel to it. I believe Cambridge could never sustain a night that didn't play only commercial music, randomly chopping and changing between genres. It's definitely not like being in London. So now, spinning tunes is just a hobby I enjoy and share with my girlfriend which I wish I had more time for (the mixing I mean, not my girlfriend lol!). I will endever to put a CD together every now and then, and possibly play at a few house parties rather than play out. But I should never say never..
I'd say my biggest influences would be Sarah Griffin, PJay, Paul Heron, Gonzalo and Lisa German just to name a few. I also think Massive Attack are awesome along with the likes of Morcheeba and Zero 7. P!NK too if you want a bit of Rock music :-)
Hopefully you will like the tunes I play and download them for your listening pleasure. Feed back is always welcome. Good or bad.
Enjoy x
We are all part of the evolution of dance music. Peoples individual musical experience and influences is what keeps music always changing and moving forward. A DJ's Mix gives the opportunity for others to hear and experience another person's taste, style and groove.
I say, if the music makes you feel like dancing you should dance!!
