I was born Arturo Alarcon in Chicago, Ill 1970. I have always been a lifelong entertainment enthusiast. Musically, I was inspired by Eddie Amador (Mochico, Yoshi Toshi) back in the late 80s to learn the subtle art of beat matching and keeping the crowd dancing. Now i've got 17 years of D.J. experience under my belt and an alias, Agent Double A to boot! Im not only limited to just dance floors, for three years I retained my radio show Spoken Words and Sounds on WCRX 88.1 FM "The Underground Cafe".
A true Leo Ive always had my hands in some type of entertainment promotion. I managed independent promotions (fashion shows, poetry readings, band and dj performances) throughout the Chicago area in the late nineties. Including event promotions for multi media troupe Qua'diction at Calles Y Suenos, Polvo and Subterranean Cafe.
In 2003 I teamed up with producer Sean Smith to incorporate Smooth Agent Records. I signed artist D.J. Wady, Deepcode, Black Mamba, Kenny Carvajal, Stacy Kidd, Andrew Emil and Karu.
My favorite part of running our label was the networking. Whether it was a music conference or just supporting other promoters and entertainers at events. It was great meeting and sourcing off these subtle meetings. I played a big part in marketing for Smooth Agent. From hiring web designers, graphic designers, setting up radio/Internet shows, working with pressing plants, to writing press releases and selling our music to distribution companies.
Another of my fortes was overseeing record release campaigns. I booked local and out of town artist, helped in the creative process of the advertisements, supervised our street team and not only djed but hosted throughout the events at; Darkroom, Tini Martini and Sonotheque.
I just started a new weekly on deepstateofmind.com called, The Wake And Bake Set. I "podcast" the shows weekly so keep an ear out.
