Purely Gangster Radio is a nonprofit organization from Southern California that was founded by Vanessa Denis and Alyssa Karalnick, two friends who have a passion for music and helping others, in March of 2008. The organization, that was originally started to help promote the duo’s favorite unsigned band friends, runs most of its functions via their Myspace page. Their main asset is their podcast called “The Ghetto Blaster” that connects teenagers from around the world to an alternative to radio. The podcast is hosted by Alyssa Karalnick who introduces herself as Dj Saint and features music of all different genres that the organization refers to as “indie, unsigned, and awesome”. All music is collected with permission from each artist and the podcast itself is produced and edited from the comfort of Alyssa’s home. more
