Hello and welcome. Thought it was about time I told my story so here goes! I'm a very passionate guy when it comes to music and just because I produce mainly drum and bass does not mean I only listen to it. Admittedly that is where my heart is but having DJ'd with almost every genre of underground dance music there is since the ripe old age of eleven i've seen and heard it all!!! Some of the syles i've been involved with are: breakbeat hardcore, jungle, happy hardcore, futuristic hardcore, (i'm not embarassed by my roots in dance music!!) bouncy techno, techno trance, intelligent drum and bass, breaks, tribal/funky/minimal/tech house music (anything deep and throbbing basically), chicago and detroit techno, european techno, and i battled it out with hip hop for quite a while too in loads of competitions and battles around the country. I spent about two years learning to crab and beat juggle but I guess i'm back with the drum and bass because it is what i truly believe in, there is no other genre of music that has such diversity and can go from been so chilled you wanna fall asleep to so nasty you wanna smack a granny round the head with a spanner!!! but i'm not violent!!! haha.... So thats my musical background and before I discovered dance music I guess I was stealing my sister's tapes (stone roses, happy mondays, the cure, prince, oasis, etc) and as a young lad I was raised on a healthy mix of bob marley, jimi hendrix, rolling stones, the pretenders, fleetwood mac, john lee hooker, james brown and a lot of music from the 80's. There has always been good music playing in my family home due to both my parents been very talented musicians, my mother a singer in The Spires, The Rumble Band, The Motivators and The Wilsons, and my father a well renonwned guitarist back home in Lincolnshire playing in loads of blues and rock bands over the past 40 years. He rocks!! .... So now a little information about my night and free party "POSITIVE EDUCATION". Myself and my partner in crime Shaun Murphy first conceived the idea after yet another disappointing night out clubbing. We were sick and tired of not hearing what we wanted to hear on the dancefloor, ESPECIALLY after paying for the privellege! Alas, Positive Education was born and we spent every spare minute and all our spare cash putting on successful nights at local venues and free parties in and around Lincolnshire. We rinsed it out for about four years before deciding to up and leave the area. Shaun went to Leeds and pushed his DJ'ing career further while I ventured down to Brighton. We both got gigs but after 3 years in the city, I decided it was all about production so I moved back home to save up some dollars to buy a mac and Logic. That was a year ago and after meeting the girl of my dreams we decided to get back down to brighton and live the dream once again!! So now I spend all my time in the studio twiddling knobs and sliding faders in the hope of getting signed...and that folks is pretty much the Beatnik story so enjoy the music, comment on it and play it as loud as you can!
