Hey, I do have a question about the request. Is it so that you can compare your show with others or is it so that others can see yours? I know it's a nuance but we're concerned about privacy (after the spam issue's been solved etc...) and we want to make sure no one is upset. As I think about it,I suppose we could make it optional. Hmm.... What do you think?

Aloha, I was thinking more along the lines of the latter--so that others can see how many total subscribers have subscribed to our show. Your competition over at Odeo seem to be offering that option to those who create podcasts with them... More importantly, however, I, myself, would like to know personally how many total subscribers I have because the current stats feature does not keep track of the total, unless, of course, one has to upgrade in order to be able to see this total figure... But I think it would awesome if us newbies could just keep track of the total amount of subscribers we have--it doesn't really have to be publicized. Mahalo e B. RE: counters and such intricaces. I'm completely new but people want your html and instruction and such from me. I say keep a little difficult weed out the stupid people, and make more stuff free- then blow up like myspace, and get big huge bucks and a mansion on A1A. :) But that is just my opinion. I mean the point is to keep us casting at a sucessful rate right? I mean why else would it be free. Then again there is alot of free stuff out there these days. Anyway- this is fun and a way of sharing my music and expressing myself and all. My ratings really fell while at work though...:( Got any automatic features? This is hard work...whew........who are my subscribers anyway? Can I at least know where thay are at or have you thought of this already?

Profiles serve 3 purposes: 1. Let your audience see the back story on your show. 2. The more friends you have on your profile the greater chance you have of finding new shows that are good. If you know what your friends like, and you like your friends ;), chances are that they'll find things you haven't and you'll then know about it. 3. Your profile is about you and the music and shows you like. Anyone that visits it has a chance of finding new things because you've found them. I hope this explains it. --b

I think he was just asking about how to get on the "featured members" portion of the home page, and couldn't figure out why the "friends" he's inviting were hitting his profile and not counting towards his four. ... but, then realized he was logged-in. I should get an A for translation. Assuming that Mrplague is some sort of representative of Podomatic and is answering questions: The real question or comment that i had in mind is in reguard to the profiles. In the future will there be seperate catagories for talk shows and music (and stuff) contolled by the website? With all the people (including our show) that are joining, its really full of podcasts that are just, kind of, jumbled. For example, Losing Weight Free Podcast under "talk", or Kenny G's Playhouse Magic Hour under "news". Lies. All lies.

There have been many complaints about miscategorization. I've been avoiding the PodSchtapo question for a while for 2 main reasons: 1. We give you the means for you to say and do what you want. To that end, we don't arbitrate your show. It is yours to do with as you please. 2. I'm way too busy to police people. You're always welcome to contact podcasters and ask them to re-categorize themselves. Personally I think miscategorization is a mistake because you won't correctly appear in search results. Why listen to a podcast about fishing when I'm interested in dinner reviews? --b

This is great....except....I went through and updated my address book on podomatic and weeded out like 200 people. Then I went to send it again by looking in the Manage your Audience tab and they're all still there. PodOmatic is GREAT so I'm not complaining, but I would love it if you have a simple solution so I don't have to delet 200 people every time I want to shout a message. peace & love, m@

M@ I harvested all the addys from the podOmatic address book, discarding the obvious spammers. I then set up Outlook Express (most mail aaps have this feature) to add the subscribers in a group. Now with two clicks, I can email a BBC to each subscriber without revealing the 2312 email addresses to spammers. I check the address book daily and remove new subscribers and add 'em in. No sweat. -unc.

1-I noticed that some of the pos i tried to listen to are in mp4. so i cant listen in windows media player. is there a way to convert or tell the people tha not every one have mp4 players to listen to this kind of format? 2-Some of the pod I tried to listen to are in a very acelerated rate. why does it hapen? the people who posted could listen to it in a normal speed? 3-Some of the lay outs does not make possible for the show to registrate fans. (periscopio for example). is there a way to revert this or to fix it? about spans i had a lot of complain from my friends becouse everytime i posted they received a mail. Than i realised that at the end of the post there is a feature that captures, if you alow, al the adresses of your friendes in a certain mail. it is span. maybe podomatic coul make this feature to work onli once for each adress. maybe what i said can help to make podomatic better than it already is.

Old mp3's will either not play or play accelerated in the flash player. New ones are automatically resampled so the problem will go away over time. 3. No fix. 4. Saludos (Greetings) Eso es algo de lo que estan mencionando algunos mensajes atras y tiene que ver con los archivos MP4 (que son the Apple y no tocan en WMP). Mencionan que en el futuro, todas las sumisiones serÃ¡n automaticamente convertidas an MP3, y el problema desaparecerÃ¡. This is something that is being mentioned a few posts back and have to do with MP4 files (Apple, not play in WMP). I figured you might have it solved by now but thought I'd just say something in case ya hadn't... I had a few folks get 'cast announcements from other casters on my mailing list, and this was the only place I had mailed them all together like that. I had used the "notify" feature, but this was back before you gave it the new look. It DID however cause me to think twice about doing it THRU the site, so for a while I was doing it thru my OWN mail program. I realized later, however, that I was missing MANY of my listeners whose names WERE on my PODOMATIC list but not my personal list, so now I'm back to using yours... Hope I haven't confused you further with all this mumbo jumbo, lol... In a word, THANKS. God Bless Tom

well i have something to ask, i'm new at podomatic and i really have no experience on this but i find really annoying having to check the emails with friends requests one-by-one. wouldn't be easier if you just put a page with all the friends request gathered and chek/uncheck at the same time all the requests and aprrove/deny them? that'd be waay easier.

I've been happy with the steady growth of the Adventure Books of Seattle podcast. One thing I discovered is that it's better to not make one episode too long, and you have to get to the point quickly before you lose the listener. Seems to work. AB does sci-fi short stories, BTW...:)

Hey, I'm loving podcasting and have seen my listeners steadily rise. But I've never seen myself on the 'featured' spot, although I'm pro. Wonder what I have to do to get featured or is it just random? Josie CastingPods

I have tried and retried to import from hotmail to invite folks to join and it has never worked....suggestions?

You know Dave, I just don't get it I guess....My dad always said don't take a crap where you eat... While we probably shouldn't go to far with that, it does seem to apply here in spirit...why spam the very people you might have to ask for help? Plus do it in an annoying manner. Ah well that's my two cents worth.... too late to plug my own show?

Yeah ... I guess. ;) I don't "get it", either. I don't really think they see it as "spamming" - though I do - I suspect they are just generally clueless. "Wicked St00pid" Trying SOoo hard to "be cool" they end up looking like ... is "dorks" still seriously un-cool? Sigh. Dave M
