You can also set up your own email address data base to send the message to. You will want to add in the people that you have listed as friends. I make a habit of asking if my friends want to be added to my notification list. Quite a few dont mind, quite a few had already subscribed through the rss feed, those I don't add in, because they are notified as soon as you post a new episode.
