Outage early this AM

Hi all,

Wanted to apologize for, and explain, this morning's outage.

A hard drive filled up. No, really. For the first time ever, a hard drive filled up and we didn't know. Our technician who was on pager duty slept through the 120+ pages sent to him during the night, so I didn't find out until he noticed at 7:30 AM today (the problem was resolved soon after).

We'll be augmenting our paging system today to deal with this possibility-- I won't accept issues with the site remaining just because someone fell down a well or something.

So I'm sorry for the outage, and I'm going to do my darndest to prevent such a series of events from happening in the future.

Thanks,

Justin Dossey

Re: Outage early this AM

I brought a group of students into our computer lab to introduce them to our podcast, and let them browse individually different episodes, but nothing would load for the whole hour. (In the UK, it was 1pm for us.)

It was very frustrating, especially as iTunes doesn't work in our lab, so that was no alternative.

I'm relieved to find out the outage was an unusual occurrence.

Ah well, that's technology for you!

Thanks for the good service otherwise.
