I've passed this along to the Pro Support mailbox. Can't guarantee anything, but it can't hurt.

Hi
I've just had to contact Pro Support as well. All episodes seem to be constantly buffering and downloading is practically impossible. Is this affecting other people? I'll report back when I get a response from Support.
Best wishes

Re: Podcast Only Plays a Few Mins

I'm going to have to write a FAQ about this!

Usually, we have found that issues with downloading podcasts are traceable to the connection at home, not the one at Podomatic. (I'm a living testament to this-- we were tearing out our hair trying to fix it when we discovered it was the office wireless router causing the issue.)

If you're sure that your connection is rock-solid, the next thing to do is what you suggested: clear the browser cache and try again.

JADP, but I just listened all the way through about 4 hours of three podcasts (one of which was your latest episode), with no interruption.

Hi
I'm able to listen to some other podcasts on this site with no problem - which suggests the connection is fine. We are getting emails from listeners complaining of the same issue which is a concern.
Is there a problem somewhere at your end of the connection?

Re: Podcast Only Plays a Few Mins

Everything that comes out of Podomatic's website goes through the same fiber-optic cable. That's the tricky part-- why would one show blink when another does not? It's all just data. We're going to run a new round of diagnostics to see if we can find an issue.

Thanks for looking into this. We're still suffering the same problem - constant buffering and downloads that crash halfway through.

Re: Podcast Only Plays a Few Mins

I upload my podcast in AAC format. then i use blogger and feedburner to give me a feed for iTunes. Some of my listeners also say that the podcast stops playing part way through. But when i download it myself it is fine, and i have just asked some other listeners and they say it is fine for them. So I don't think there is anything wrong with the media, or with the feed. its baffling.

Re: Podcast Only Plays a Few Mins

Let's make one point here ... there is no difference (here) between MP3 and AAC. POM runs a conversion on AAC that sees to that.
And another point ... you can feed iTunes with no more than just your show posted on POM. No need for Blogger or Feedburner.
It is interesting that some are getting locked up while others are not. As has been pointed out, it all leaves the server the same way over the same pipe. Some Microsoft software - WMP 9(?) - is problematic while others - WMP 11(?) - is not. Safari (Mac) with QuickTime (Mac) works fine. You may want to find out what your listeners are using, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to hear that they don't know! Maybe they know which browser they are using, as likely they don't even recognize IE (what's that?) or iTunes are browsers and that they use plugins (WMP x and QuickTime) to actually play files. In other words ... "good luck". But, this may be the only way to clear the problem up. Who knows ... it may be your listeners who are still using Win '95, or the ones who've upgraded to Vista who are seeing the problem.

Check the Site Status board for a long comment on this. Don't know if you will be "satisfied" with this, but it will at least help fill in the holes.
