but how do we get our old email addresses back into this system. I mean some were inported but others just kinda glommed on. What a bore it would be to dig them all back into the system. any quick way?

The new email service is rubbish Not only have i now lost all my email contacts from people who willingly put themselves onto my email list, but when i try to enter a new email it says its not connecting. Bring back the old email service it was far less complicated and much more reliable.

Try a fourth party. The third party has done nothing but completely mess the system up. All my email addresses are gone and there is no link to add new one or get the old ones back. It is totally hosed up. Please go back to the old process until you have a new one that actually works. And please, next time do a test drive with some beta users before making a universl change. What is out there now really stinks.

You have completely ruined being able to "get the word out" This SUCKS! I have been trying all day to send email to my address book that I posted a new episode and nothing!!! You have just made my life harder and the ability to advertise my podcast and your service extremely hard and near imposible. Fix this NOW! As a PRO member I am completely disappointed.

This is the complaint I just sent to the Podomatic billing and technical staff: Last week I complained about the service to promote your podcast by sending an e-mail to the directory you store at Podomatic (i.e., the list formed by people who subscribe to your podcast), was not working. I received responses from your technical staff indicating they were working to fix this problem. It worked for a few days, and now (Sunday 9:00 PM PST) it seems this sevice has been removed. After posting a podcast you get a new page that allows you to send e-mail to contacts from Hotmail as an example, or to post it to your communities, but not any more to send a notification to the people who have subscribed. This is unacceptable, especially for those of us who pay a susbcription to your service. Do you plan to restore the service in question? Otherwise I might strongly consider cancelling my service with you. Please let me know what your plans are. Thanks, Mauricio Perez semillas.podomatic.com

Oh dear, Jonathan, I'm afraid that I have to agree with some of the other comments here. I have an important core of listeners who subscribe to my e-mail updates. Not only are they now not receiving my e-mail alerts, I have not idea what their e-mail addresses were, and cannot get in touch with them. The result: I now look like an idiot who doesn't care about my listeners. Exactly the opposite, I'm sure, of what you intended. Please can you: a) Ensure that everyone gets the e-mail aliases of their existing subscribers as soon as possible b) Beta test updates in the future before launching (I would willing participate in a beta test programme) I am a PRO Plus subscriber and have always been a supporter of POM, considering it great value. Please give me good reason to keep to this opinion by reacting quickly to this premature code-change with a rapid fix. Don Classic Poetry Aloud

Don't like it either... I like sending the email blast before... there was nothing wrong with that. Why are we fixing the things that are ok. Also like when I can post the pic from that specific show on myspace... can't get the code for that anymore. What needs to be work on is Dropped shows... can't download the show off of iTunes... those are the major concerns. Please, begging you to return it... or bring back the old way... and keep the new way for people who like it... but I like the old way of promoting.. PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD "GET THE WORD OUT"

I'm having problems with this new feature, always says ERROR so right now was impossible for me to get the word out with my new episode. Please, let us use the old feature again!!! Also I have problems with the codes to post my new episodes in Facebook,and My Space, the are not as complete, as always.

Yesterday, I used the new tool to get the word out about my latest episode. I copied all the addresses from the POM 'Manage Address Book' to the new tool, and sent off the mail. This morning I posted a new episode, only to find that the e-mail addresses I had copied over had gone. I was expected, presumably, to re-type them. So the new tool only allows one to import e-mail addresses from an existing tool, such as Yahoo, or to enter them by hand, and then sends out an e-mail without any control (that I can see) over the subject line. Unless there is new functionality to come, I cannot see the advantage of this approach over simply keeping a list of e-mail addresses in Yahoo and maintaining one's own database of fans. Am I missing something?

I am at least glad a link to the old feature was restored. What were you thinking by adding a link to another, personal address book, while cancelling out access to the addresses entered and subscribed just for the podcast? This shows almost no familiarity with basic Internet etiquette, let alone podcast marketing techniques. Dump whoever came up with this and listen to those of us do this every day. Thanks, Eddie

For posting on Facebook, MySpace, etc, the link "Post to Your Social Network" is recommended. The new 3rd party tool does a much, much better job than the old system for posting on other web sites. It appears the primary issue is importing the address book data, which we're looking at fixing for the better.

Our goal is to remove the old 'get the word out', but to do it in a way that keeps the features you want. My understanding is you want access to the address book you've built up on PodOmatic. Are there any other features not in the new system that you'd like to see? It's a great suggestion having a beta test group. We'll take it under consideration as we roll out new features.

Thanks for being so responsive. Here are some basic things that I would like under the new system (and which I am I currently doing by myself in Yahoo Mail). I understand that not all may be possible: 1) Ability to alter the subject line 2) Ability to keep my own, standard text as the default text for the alert e-mail sent out 3) Ability to keep an address book on Podomatic for my mailings (as you have noted) 4) Standard 'Unsubscribe' functionality built into the system After these basics, one can imagine a range of further functionality that extends to a proper database of podcast members. This is something which I would certainly be happy to pay extra for. The first step towards this would be: 5) Ability to differentiate between groups of users (especially those paying for premium services) I hope that this helps.

I like the new "Import Your Address Book Feature... The only thing I'd like to see is a way to keep only the email addys you want, and the ability to delete the others. There are many on my email address book that I don't want to email blast about my show... A delete function for the address book would be very helpful...
