DJ Bio:
DJ MIKE POPE (Atlanta, GA.) Originally from the Washington D.C. area; DJ Mike Pope has called Atlanta, Georgia his home for 14 years. Having had a deep appreciation of electronic music dating back to the early 90’s, he eventually became inspired to channel this passion towards becoming a DJ. Mike recalls that he initially felt inspired to pursue his DJ aspirations after experiencing memorizing sets by DJ’s Tony Moran, Chris Cox and Hex Hector.

Mike's DJ career officially began in the Summer of 2004 after turning his film and video background from music video director/editor to dance music DJ. "I'd been involved in music through music video productions for many years since college but that started to get eclipsed for my love of club music," said Pope when asked why the switch in careers. Mike spent many hours in the DJ booth at the Atlanta nightclub WETbar watching the house deejay’s techniques on how to mix and turn a dance floor. After mixing a couple tracks at WETbar after that, it wouldn’t be until August of 2008 that Mike would have landed a headlining night in the main room at WETbar.

His involvement with local non-profits and charitable organizations continues to be a high priority. In 2008, Mike was approached by the Joining Hearts organization to spin at their First Annual ‘Love On The Rocks’ Valentine’s Day Event. The event was a huge success and provided him with the opportunity to open for DJ Roland Belmares at the following 3 high profile outdoor circuit events, Joining Hearts 21-23 for the past three Summers. Mike continues to be their resident DJ providing music to their events which continue to be the largest fundraisers in Atlanta benefiting AID Atlanta and Jerusalem House helping to raise over 1 million dollars to date.

2010 was the year for DJ Mike Pope. Highlights included headlining for the 20th Rites of Spring Main Event in Birmingham Alabama, Charlotte Pride Main Event for JustTwirl in October (Closet Nightclub), opening DJ for Joining Hearts 23, opening DJ for Tracy Young (Jungle Nightclub), headlining DJ for Change of Seasons T-Dance (Atlanta), co-headliner for Jerusalem House's Carnevale 2010, headliner for NYE2011 at The Heretic Atlanta, an opening DJ during Mark Baker's Gay Disney Weekend "Wonderland 2010." Mike started a rotating residency at The Heretic Atlanta back in September and continues to fill the dancefloor on a regular basis. Other Atlanta guest spots continued and included clubs like: 2 bi-weekly residencies kept him busy at Opera Nightclub and Amsterdam Atlanta while other guest spots continued at Bellissima, Halo Lounge, Shout, Whiskey Park, The W Hotel Midtown, Joe's On Juniper and Front Page News.

DJ Mike Pope just added Miami to his resume by spinning a set at LUX Nightclub (South Beach) and was honored to be nominated in 2011's JustCircuit Awards on March 13th during Winter Music Conference. Even though he didn't win, being part of only 5 nominees out of all the thousands of DJ's up for the award is an honor in itself. Other past awards include BEST LOCAL ATLANTA DJ 2008 and 2nd Place Best Local Atlanta DJ 2009 for SouthernVoice Newspaper. It is no wonder that DJ Mike Pope is on his way to becoming a premier DJ and crowd favorite in the circuit and club dance music industry.

Mike describes his style as a fusion of house and high energy Top 40 vocals and has recently started learning to remix and produce his own tracks.
